....you might be a Convair NB-36H Nuclear Peacemaker.
The NB-36H began life as a damaged B-36H that was then modified with an 11-ton lead and rubber lined crew section and 10-12 inch thick lead glass, and equipped with a nuclear reactor, and was intended to show the feasibility of a nuclear powered aircraft. The three-megawatt, air-cooled reactor in the NB-36H did not power any of the aircraft's systems, nor did it provide propulsion, but was placed on the NB-36H to measure the effectiveness of the shielding for the crew. The NB-36H completed 47 test flights and 215 hours of flight time (during 89 of which the reactor was operated) between September 17, 1955, and March 1957 over New Mexico and Texas. Although it was never needed, there was a direct hotline to the President's office set up in case of a nuclear accident on board the aircraft. ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! )

An airborne nuclear reactor? What could possibly go wrong?

In honor of Earth Day. Gotta love the 50's and their rather blasé attitude about nuclear safety.

Ah that warm irradiated glow of peace, better than the smell of napalm in the morning! But in all fairness, a bomber with a one month loiter time is pretty awesome, aside from being stuck in a tin can for that long...then there is Lockheed's "natural" evolution of the concept, the CL-1201
And no, that is not a missile launching from a wing, its a fighter jet...
